Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have become parents for the second time. The couple announced the birth of a baby girl on Saturday, September 19, through an Instagram post that was notable for how little it showed. There was no photograph of the newborn, only a simple graphic with a small footprint and a short line welcoming the baby, followed by the date and the names Dua, Deepika and Ranveer.
The order of those names is worth noticing. The couple’s elder daughter appears first, a small signal that the family is presenting the arrival as a milestone for all three of them and now four. As of Sunday, the family had not disclosed the baby’s name or where she was born.

The post drew responses from across the film industry within hours. Filmmaker Aditya Dhar, who directed Singh in the Dhurandhar films, wrote in Hindi that after Lakshmi had come, “Saraswati” had now arrived too, calling the newborn another little angel and wishing her a life of love and happiness. Actor Anil Kapoor said girls are the best. Farah Khan noted that those with two daughters are truly blessed and that the couple could ask her about it.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh sent love to Dua and her baby sister, while Kriti Sanon wrote that Dua had a sister and called it a blessing. Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Kharbanda left short messages of congratulations, and Alia Bhatt responded with emojis.

The birth follows a short stretch of public visibility for the couple. In the days before it, Padukone and Singh were photographed at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, she in an orange and purple kurta set and he in a purple kurta with white trousers. One account places the visit a day before the birth. They had also recently released pictures from a maternity shoot, and in hindsight the timing of that release suggested the delivery was close.

The pregnancy itself was made public in April 2026, with a post showing Dua holding a positive pregnancy test. That was a playful frame, and it made the toddler the centre of the news. The choice of a footprint for the birth announcement continues the same idea: the couple prefers to tell its family story through small symbols rather than staged portraits.
The timeline of the family is short and closely followed. Padukone and Singh met on the set of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013, and their pairing continued in Bajirao Mastani and 83. They reportedly got engaged privately in 2015 and married on November 14, 2018, at Lake Como in Italy.

Dua was born on September 8, 2024. The second daughter arrived eleven days after Dua’s second birthday, which means the two sisters will celebrate their birthdays within the same fortnight of September.
The news arrives when both actors are at busy points in their careers. Singh recently appeared in Dhurandhar 2, which has reportedly earned more than Rs 1,000 crore at the global box office, a figure that places it among the highest-grossing Hindi films of recent years.
Singh’s next release is Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta and described as a zombie and survival thriller. Padukone is set to appear opposite Shah Rukh Khan in King, directed by Siddharth Anand, which also features Suhana Khan.
