US President Donald Trump has said the United States is prepared to respond with overwhelming military force if Iran were to carry out any attempt on his life, reinforcing what he described as a policy of strength and deterrence. 
Speaking in an interview with the New York Post, Trump said he had already left instructions outlining the US response should such an attack occur. He maintained that he has been the target of Iranian threats for years and warned that any successful assassination attempt would trigger an unprecedented military retaliation.
Trump also emphasized that his broader approach toward Iran is based on decisive retaliation rather than proportional military responses.
“We just hit them very hard. And I’d say we hit them 20 to one. Every time they hit us, we’re going to hit them 20,” he said, underscoring what he described as a strategy designed to deter future attacks through overwhelming force.
The president dismissed reports suggesting that Israel had recently provided Washington with intelligence confirming a fresh Iranian assassination plot against him. While acknowledging longstanding threats from Tehran, Trump said the latest information did not amount to conclusive evidence of an imminent attack.
His remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following reports that Israeli intelligence had shared information with US officials regarding an alleged Iranian plot targeting the president. According to multiple media reports, the intelligence referred to a specific alleged threat, although US intelligence agencies have reportedly not independently verified its credibility.
