A family from Karnataka has alleged that a relative of theirs working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was brutally murdered and that his body was chopped into nine pieces before being abandoned near the Oman border by unknown persons.
The purported victim, identified as Alwin Prakash Kunder, had been working at the airport in Sharjah in the UAE and last contacted his family around July 20, said the family from Kundapur in Karnataka’s Udupi district.

Suspicions arose when Alwin’s family began receiving typed text messages from his phone claiming he was unwell and resting—an unusual change from his routine of sending voice notes. When family members requested a phone call, all communication ceased.
Follow-up attempts by the family revealed conflicting accounts regarding Alwin’s whereabouts. A former classmate who visited his company-provided apartment was informed by a security guard that Alwin had departed for India. HR officials initially backed this claim, but passport verification later confirmed Alwin had never exited the UAE, prompting a formal missing-person report with Sharjah authorities.
According to Alwin’s elder brother, Anil Prashant Kunder, UAE officials discovered Alwin’s body on August 12 packed into two bags inside the boot of his abandoned Toyota vehicle. The family said he had sustained chest stab wounds before his body was dismembered. Positive identification was subsequently established through DNA testing using samples provided by his elder son, who works with Nestle.
Adding a critical dimension to the case was the fact that Alwin’s family reported being unable to establish contact with his wife, Tina Kundar, or their younger son, who studies in Class 10 son, both of whom live in Dubai. CCTV footage from the apartment building reportedly captured two men and a woman transporting luggage around July 26.

Alwin’s family members in Udupi suspect that his wife and younger son may have returned to India and may be preparing to lodge formal complaints with police. They said they were not sure if Tina was questioned by UAE police.
