Ask the Career Guru: How do I start building my personal brand in today’s digital age?

A strong personal brand can boost visibility, credibility, networking opportunities, and long-term career success.

Dear Career Guru,

I am a university student preparing to enter an increasingly competitive job market. While I have been focusing on academics, internships, and skill development, I often hear recruiters and career experts stress the importance of having a strong personal brand and professional online presence. I have a LinkedIn account, but I am unsure how to use it effectively or whether employers really pay attention to what students post online. How can students build a credible personal brand on LinkedIn and other digital platforms, and what steps can we take to stand out professionally while remaining authentic to who we are?

Sincerely,

Rohan, Mumbai
